CASE STUDY: PRINTING MERCH FOR TEBEY
The tour manager for Tebey reached out to me as they urgently required t-shirts printing for a tour they were on and delivering direct to the venue. I worked with the artists manager who was based in Canada to source the correct garments they required to match previously ordered merch. On this occasion it was a Bella & Canvas t-shirt.
They sent me the two designs they required printing both of which called for custom Pantone colours.
The order was completed in time and delivered directly to the venue as promised.
UNDERBASE AND PANTONE MATCHING
Printing this three colour design required three custom Pantone colours to be mixed and an underbase to be applied first.
As all the colours printed were lighter than the garment colour a white layer of ink needed to be printed first for the other colours to sit on. This ensures the colours are vibrant and look as expected.
When screen printing a multiple colour design like this each colour is applied using a separate screen. You can see the process in the slides of how the design comes together.
PRINTING ON WHITE
When printing on a white t-shirt an underbase is not required. This design also required a custom Pantone to go alongside the standard black ink.
When printing art work like this the original art files go through a separation process where the gold colours are removed from the black so they do not print on top of each other.
The screens are then registered into the screen printing press with precision to ensure the colours line up with no gaps.
